Ladywell House B&B

A warm and friendly family-run bed and breakfast on the edge of the stunning and historic village of Falkland in Fife. We have six letting rooms, sleeping up to 14 guests, and the guests have use of the beautiful Drawing Room filled with family furniture and fine art with dual aspect and open fire. Meals are served in the bright and comfortable conservatory with outstanding views over Falkland and North Fife.

All of the bedrooms are warm, comfortable and furnished with quality antiques, and boast superb beds with fine linen and goose down downies. Recently we have added electric blankets to all of our beds, to ensure you a warm and comfortable sleep! They are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers etc, but do not have 'piped musac' or trouser presses!

The large Georgian house, built in 1806 for the Rev George Buist, was once a manse and was occupied by ministers until it was sold in 1987. Standing in what were the lands of The Knight Templars, the house and land are of great historical interest. Francis Shand Kydd bought the house in 1994 and owned it until her death in June 2004.

We have retained many of the original features, and Diana's Room, decorated for her and used by no-one else until her death in 1997, retains its curtains, wallpaper and carpet. For fans of the late Princess of Wales, the thrill of sleeping in her room is enormous.

We are within 45 minutes of Edinburgh, 35 minutes of St Andrews and 25 minutes of Perth. There are frequent train services to the centre of Edinburgh from the nearby railway station at Markinch, with the journey lasting approximately 45 minutes, taking in the historic Forth Bridge (not the Forth Rail Bridge, as when it was built it was the only Forth Bridge)!

We have 50 golf courses within 30 miles of us, including the famous Old Course in St Andrews. Locally we have a challenging 9 hole course at Falkland. We are within 40 minutes of Crail with its renowned pottery, and Elie, Pittenweem and Anstruther, with its famous Fish and Chip Shop are all close by. We are within 2 hours drive of a third of Scotland and are centrally located for business and holiday requirements.

We offer a friendly home-from-home atmosphere with our children and dogs, and you will feel like a welcome friend from the moment that you arrive.
