Aurora Bed & Breakfast

Shieldaig is a picturesque, peaceful loch-side village with a pub & shop within walking distance. The house is situated by the sea with fantastic views of Loch Torridon. Admire Shieldaig Island, Torridon Mountains and wildlife from the floor to ceiling windows in the dining room or from the outside deck. Relax in the first floor guest lounge with its comfortable suite, large TV and DVD's, or take in the panoramic view from glazing on 3 sides - on clear days we can see the Hebrides. The sunsets from this room are so incredible and varied.

In our well equipped, welcoming home every thought is given to our guest's needs & comfort; from hand made local soap, drying room to a spacious new dining room with extensive glazing to take advantage of the views.

Bedrooms are luxuriously appointed, 2 with SuperKing size beds that can be split to provide 2 full size single beds, 1 with a King Size bed. 2 of our rooms can accommodate a 3rd person in a full size single, all our beds are extremely good quality & very comfortable. All bedrooms have large ensuite bathrooms.

Breakfast is taken in the architect designed dining room with floor to ceiling glazing to take in mountain & sea views. You can take advantage of a traditional cooked breakfast or lighter fare with homemade preserves and pancakes all whilst admiring the fantastic view. Venison sausages and Haggis are made by our butcher in Lochcarron. Salmon is smoked in the village by Loch Torridon Smokehouse, Yoghurt & Crowdie are made by West Highland Dairy at Achmore. We are passionate about providing tasty home cooking from local produce & cooked the slow food way.

'Many Thanks. The best B & B I have stayed in. Delicious food too!' Dr H

Shieldaig by Torridon is a great place to base yourself there are Beinn Eighe, Liathach, Alligin & Beinn Damph. We have maps, books, walking information, provide a daily weather forecast and offer suggestions to help you get the most out of your time here. Sightseeing could include a trip to the Perfume studio, Inverewe & Attadale Gardens, Lochcarron weavers, Carron Pottery, Eilean Donan Castle, Strome castle ruins. The Isle of Skye is not so far away with Tallisker distillery, the ancient Brochs near Glen Elg where you can still 'go over the sea to Skye'. A trip over the Bealach na Ba is a must to explore Applecross.

We try to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere whilst keeping an unobtrusive presence. It is our aim to help you get the most out of your time spent here. The Torridon area is a great place to base yourself & spend time walking, nature & bird watching. There is so much to see & do within 50 mile radius, most people just have to come back.

'I feel this village is the most beautiful and special in the whole of Scotland - and I have travelled extensively all over Scotland.' Dean
