Bettles Lodge
We have something for everyone. With 30 years experience in the Bush, we have found there are so many more ways to experience the wilderness that many guests return to enjoy both seasons. Specializing in unique summer and winter adventures!
Bettles Lodge is a great family environment, people of all ages love the activities the arctic has to offer. Most of our guests are surprised throughout their trip in Bettles as they realize the novelty of being in rural Alaska is just as entertaining and appealing as the Northern lights themselves.
During the winter season, we also offer dogsled rides, which can range from 30 minutes and can be extended to several hours or days. Other activities include snowmobiling, snowshoeing. cross-country skiing and village tours. Use of skis and snowshoes are included in the tour price. Flight seeing in our aircraft is a spectacular way to see the vastness of the Arctic.
February and March are a great time for Aurora Viewing and the extra daylight allows more time to see animals such as moose, caribou, arctic hare, red fox and snow birds. We can provide outdoor clothes and gear needed. Bettles Air Service is owned and operated by Bettles Lodge. We provide flights from Fairbanks, customized trips, and flights seeing trips throughout the Brooks Range and Gates of the Arctic National Park.
We see the best northern lights in northern Alaska. Bettles officially has the most clear weather days in the entire state. We are located directly under the Auroral Band (highest aurora activity). For the best viewing of the Northern Lights come to the sunniest spot in Alaska. Little to no light pollution makes for great photography opportunities and optimal viewing (no neighboring cities or traffic to brighten the sky, just stars).
We have a great spot for aurora photography! Our rustic Aurora viewing cabin is 2 miles from the lodge on a mile long lake. Our staff can arrange a drop off and pick up time at the cabin, or if you like to ski or snowshoe one way and we will pick you up or drop you off. Enjoy hot chocolate, tea, or coffee in our warming cabin. There is absolutely no light pollution at the cabin and the lake offers a great 360 degree view of the night sky.
