A Bella Vista Bed & Breakfast/Iowa City

Built in the 1920's, this air-conditioned home is tastefully decorated with antiques and international artefacts collected by Daissy's during her extensive world travels. Her photographs of Antarctica are the ones most appreciated by her guests. Guests can enjoy coffee on the back deck or the front porch facing the garden and the quiet, private Bella Vista Street.

Bella Vista provides three large comfortable suites with private baths and two rooms with a shared bath. One of the suites has a kitchen and a private entrance suitable for longer stays. Twin, full, or queen beds are available. All the rooms have cable TV and Wireless Internet access, a hair dryer, and robes. A full breakfast is provided including the option of vegetarian.

Iowa City is the home of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. It offers many musical and theatre events at Hancher Auditorium. Among the summer events are the June Art Festival on river bank, the July Iowa Jazz festival, with world famous musicians, and the June-July outdoor Shakespeare Festival.

Iowa City is also the hub on an exciting tourist area which includes: The Amana Colonies; Kalona, with its Amish culture; the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum in West Branch; and Old Capitol, the first capitol building of the State of Iowa. Coral Ridge Mall is one of the largest in the Midwest. The power of the flood of 1993 uncovered the Devonian Fossil Gorge, with fossils 375 million years old.

Free University Cambus is only a short distance away. The Hancher Auditorium, Music building, and Art Museum are just across the Iowa River from Bella Vista. The location is convenient to restaurant and is less than a mile from I-80 exit 244.

Besides English, Daissy speaks Spanish fluently and some French.
