Innkeepers Dale Northrup and Misael Valdes have visited more than 50 countries writing about hotels and cruise ships for consumer guide books and the travel trade. This historic inn at city center is walking distance to waterfront, coffee houses, restaurants, museums, performance venues. most guests park and walk. Fashionably styled rooms and suites all feature queen beds, flat screen cableTV, refrigerators stocked with complimentary soft drinks, private baths. Some rooms feature gas fireplace. All rooms are named after poets. The Longfellow Suite features eight foot windows overlooking the square, original pumpkin pine floors, a two poster Charleston Rice bed, ornamental fireplace, private bath with a shower accomplished with green and white marble. An adjoining study is ideal for a third person or may be used to relax and read. The top floor Parker Jr. Suite offers four windows overlooking the street and square scene, and features a dressing room separating the bath from the bedroom. The bath is built with a whimsical two person shower. Two ground floor rooms offer such amenities as a private deck or gas fireplace. The Percy Shelley Room is fashioned with exposed brick, two north-facing windows, a cedar closet and large bath with tub and shower. The Walt Whitman Room is styled with raised panel walls, a skylighted bath and features distant views of Mount Washington. All Rooms have climate control. Rates include breakfast served 8-10am and parking. Guests enjoy the side garden and courtyard in good weather.
