Welcome to Simply Bed & Bread!

Warm, comfortable and relaxed, Simply Bed & Bread is on a quiet street next door to Washington College, and is a few minutes' walk from downtown historical sites and from the river. Lovely smells invite you in--the aromas of brewed gourmet coffee, homemade cinnamon buns in the mornings and squeaky-clean rooms with freshly laundered linens recently pulled off of the outdoor clotheline after drying--these are a few of those smells.

We're a couple of active boomer empty-nesters who'd love to have you come fill the empty rooms in our house for a while! We'd be happy to give you the mileage and route for an early morning run, or some tips on where to walk in this very walker-friendly, historical town.....like taking a meander through Fountain Park, then making a stop at Stam's for an old-fashioned ice cream soda at their vintage soda fountain, while on your way to Wilmer Park to walk around the 1/3 mile paved path next to the water, or to the foot of High Street to watch the ducks.

Perhaps your cup of tea is to browse through second-hand stores and antique shops. The W.I.N. store is one of those, with the proceeds going to local Women In Need and their families. The Crumpton Auction, only 12 minutes out of town, is a local institution with a broad reputation: people come from miles and miles to find treasures from times past. The arts are definitely alive here!

With a restored theatre, local museums, the college, art shops and galleries, local artists and artisans thrive and share their talents with those who come. The weekly events calendar is full most weekends of the entire year, and there is much to do during weekdays as well. Simply Bed & Bread is within walking distance of most of this, and after a spring day spent sightseeing, a time of front porch sitting might be just the thing to do--especially if it's around Tea Time.

Or maybe that's all you want to do! Maybe you're just tired and need a place to be still. We have quilts and afghans to snuggle down into. Maybe a book and a cup of something warm held in your hands is synomous with rest and home to you. After all, it really is the simple things that seem to matter most, especially at Simply Bed & Bread.
