The Buttonwood Inn, a Select Registry member since 1999, is one of 25 proud recipients of America's Favorite Inns Award and the subject of the 'White Mountain Wonderland' article in Classic American Homes.

An 1820s farmhouse, the inn retains its comfortable country atmosphere with wide pine floors, antiques, quilts, and stenciling.

Situated on more than five secluded acres of field and forests, two miles from the village of North Conway, The Buttonwood Inn on Mt. Surprise offers a peaceful, rural setting and the convenience of being close to everything.

Relax at the Inn with your favorite book. You can watch outside for the appearance of deer, wild turkeys, moose, hawks, or hummingbirds. You can also enjoy the outdoor recreation and area activities available in Mt. Washington Valley

Unwind with afternoon tea and home baked treats in front of one of our traditional wood burning fireplaces in either our large living room or the Mt. Surprise Room when days are cool. You can select a spot in the sun or shade in one of our Adirondack chairs or take a dip in our heated pool or soak in our open air hot tub with a view of the mountains and forest by day or stars by night. We'll be glad to help you with dinner plans at one of many area restaurants, which offer everything from local to ethnic cuisine in a casual or fine dining atmosphere.

Each individually decorated guest room at The Buttonwood Inn has a private bath. Rooms are furnished with a king, queen, or twin beds. Some of our rooms offer guests a fireplace, a two-person Jacuzzi, and wheelchair accessibility. All rooms have a radio alarm clock, telephone, and hair dryer.

Our location in New Hampshire's White Mountains provides an extensive combination of activities ranging from outdoor recreation to attractions, both natural and man-made, to festivals and events, and shopping.

In winter, relax by the fire or in our open air hot tub, or get outside and enjoy trails ideal for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. In summer, hike these same trails or enjoy our own 20' x 40' heated inground pool surrounded by some of the Inn's award-winning gardens.
