Flag & Castle House, Smart Bed & Breakfast in Brecon

Flag & Castle House offers a warm and cosy stay in the heart of Brecon. The House is a 18th Century former public house with many period features and we offer four comfortable ensuite rooms for up to seven people.

We are 5 minutes from the centre of Brecon and its many facilities and opposite the famous Christ College School.

If driving, the House is 10 minutes from the Storey Arms at the base of Pen-Y-Fan and 10 minutes walk from the start of the many trails in the National Park. The beautiful caves and waterfalls at Clyngwyn and Ystradfellte are only a 30 minute drive.

We welcome a wide range of guests but especially can cater for walkers, bikers and cyclists. If you are looking for a base to explore the Brecon Beacons and beyond then a stay in the Flag & Castle House is a superb and central location for the National Park, whilst having the convenience of the pubs and restaurants in Brecon for a drink and dinner.

Breakfast

We provide both a continental breakfast (choice of cereals, croissants, breads, Welsh yoghurts and fruit with a selection or preserves and juices and a cooked breakfast for those needing extra fortification. Cooked breakfast includes locally sourced sausages, thick cut bacon, tomatoes (home grown in summer), mushrooms, toast, beans and your choice of eggs. Alternatively a choice of scrambled, fried, boiled or poached eggs is available. All are served with a pot of tea or cafetiere of real coffee. Vegetarian cooked breakfasts are also available.

We try to cater for most tastes and if you have any particular dietary requirements (including any food allergies) we would ask that you let us know at the earliest opportunity.

Our Lounge

We have comfortable seating area for planning your day out or alternatively a day inside if the weather is more inclement. We have a well-stocked library of books and trail maps for ideas on exploring the area. Also provided is a selection of games including chess (traditional and LOTR edition), Risk (LOTR edition), monopoly (Reading edition) and cards/poker chips.
The Garden

We have a large rear garden for use with a purpose built seating area for warm summer evenings and second more secluded shaded area.
Parking and Garaging

We have ample secure storage for motorbikes and cycles in our two garages. For car parking we can offer two onsite parking spaces (in addition to our two garages) but also the convenience of a free public car park adjacent to the building. There is further on street parking to the front of the property on Orchard Street.

We have a further lockable brick building available for bicycles with secure anchor points and chains for added security.

We can offer cyclists a range of services at the end of a long and potentially muddy day

Four lockable areas for the storage of bicycles

Access to water for washing bicycles

Spare items ie. Chains, chain breaker, pump, inner tubes, tyres, repair kits

We are welcoming and helpful hosts and will try to accommodate any (reasonable) requests to help improve your stay - if there is anything else we can help with then we will try.

We try to offer a restful environment for all our guests and regret we cannot therefore cater for either children or pets.
