Hillside House

Hillside House is an ideal base for getting away from it all.

An ideal base for exploring Exmoor, the Doone Valley, Watersmeet or the North Devon Coast.

Bring your bikes and follow the Tarka Trail. Walk part of the South West Coast path or the Two Moors Way. We offer kit transfer for walkers. Packed lunches are available, so take a picnic with you.

Take a trip on the on-top bus across Exmoor to Porlock or Minehead. Go back in time on a steam train from Minehead. Woody Bay railway station nearby runs trips most days. There is a model of the area in the village, which tells the story of the Lynmouth Flood Disaster.

Take a boat trip from Lynmouth harbour and see the coast from a different angle. See the Moors on horse-back - book a ride at one of the many riding stables nearby. Visit the model railway. Catch the cliff railway to Lynton and visit the Valley of Rocks.

Watch out for the goats and Exmoor ponies. Visit the Lynton and Lynmouth Music Festival - sit on the Manor Green and listen to the musicians and entertainers. Look out for the buskers in the street. Look out for the Scarecrow during August - they pop up all over the place.

Cheer on the rafts as the race out of the harbour and back into Lynmouth again. Watch out for the floor bombs thrown from and at the rafts. Overlooking the East Lyn River, Hillside House has many original features.

We offer a full English breakfast or a lighter breakfast if preferred. Sit on our terrace and watch the world go by. Each centrally heated room has TV, beverage tray, hair drier, radio alarm clock. Welcome behaved dogs welcome. We are open all year. Restaurants, pubs and bistros are all nearby so no need to use the car once you are here.
