The Estalagem:

Built within the grounds of one of the historic Quintas of Funchal, of a classic architecture, which combines perfectly with its beautiful surroundings, the Estalagem Quintinha de São João succeeds in resurrecting the magic of the old residences of Madeira.
Everything has been generated towards providing our guests with a warm, cosy atmosphere, only possible in a small, family unit. The decor, with the antique replicas and comfortable seating areas, together with the excellent personal service, brings to life our motto Home from Home.

Location:

Situated in a privileged position on the outskirts of the city centre of Funchal (1.5km), in a residential area, the Estalagem enjoys magnificent views over the mountains and is surrounded by trees.
Approximately 2.5 kms away is the Lido area, ideal for those wanting to test the warm seawaters of Madeira.

Transport:

The hotel provides a Courtesy Bus for our guests, twice each day. The journey takes approximately 5 minutes.
Taxis are readily available through Reception and there is a public bus stop at about 50 m from the hotel.
For those who rent their own cars, there is an indoor parking facility within the Hotel.

Rooms:

All rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated, setting off to their utmost advantage the traditional embroidery and Madeiran craftsmanship.

34 standard twin rooms (4 without balcony). Apart from the conventional sleeping area, all rooms have an attractive living or working area and en suite bathrooms, most of which offer Jacuzzi baths.

3 Junior Suites (all with balcony). Larger rooms, also with separate sleeping and seating areas and featuring an entrance hall. En suite bathrooms with a separate shower unit, bath and private toilet.

6 Suites (2 without balcony). Each with completely separate living room and bedroom, all with an entrance hall and en suite bathroom with Jacuzzi baths.

The Piano Bar Vasco da Gama, with a splendid view over the bay of Funchal from the terrace, is the ideal place to enjoy the quieter moments of the day in perfect relaxation, sipping one of the varied array of cocktails and other specialities that satisfy the palates of even the most discerning customer.
