Casa Monaltrie Luxury Bed & Breakfast Suite Silver Coast Portugal

Casa Monaltrie lies in the heart of the Silver Coast. The property is ideally located to explore the Silver Coast region, set midway between Peniche and Nazare, a coastline which boasts some of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in Europe.

There are many historic sites close by which include the medieval town of Obidos. Within 8km of the property guests will find the nearest beaches and Obidos Lagoon which is known for its tranquil waters and various water sports facilities.

There are 4 championship golf courses nearby.

The property and secluded gardens nestles at the end of a quiet country lane 3km from the town of Caldas Da Rainha. It is bounded by open farmland and fruit orchards. There are no properties directly overlooking the gardens.

The suite has its own private entrance with direct access to a private courtyard garden with outdoor furniture. Guests have access to the owners private swimming pool (8 x 4m) which overlooks the fruit orchards. There is a generous sized patio area which includes a cold water shower where guests can relax on the sun loungers or sit under the parasol for those who prefer to sit in the shade.

The luxurious Suite (sleeps 2/4) comprising large family bedroom with en-suite, private sitting/dining room. Guests have use of owners pool facilities and secluded garden. The property is finished to a high standard with high quality furnishings. All rooms are light and airy and can be accessed directly from the private courtyard garden area. There is ample cupboard and storage space. The suite has central heating in the winter months (additional tariff applies). The hallway leads from the family bedroom to a large private sitting/dining room. There is a fridge/freezer, tea/coffee making facilities and a toaster. There is a flat screen TV with satellite English channels, together with a range of DVDs, CDs and books. Bed linen, towels and a hairdryer are provided. An iron and ironing board can be made available for guests use.

The price of the luxury suite which sleeps 2/4 persons costs from 39€ based on two persons sharing. The price includes a full continental breakfast consisting of a selection of cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, fresh bread and rolls, meats, cheeses, tea, coffee and fruit juice.

Complimentary wine and fresh fruit are provided for guests on arrival.

Coast/Beach

Foz Do Arelho/Obidos Lagoon (8 min drive) boasts wide sandy beaches backed by dunes and pine forests, offering safe bathing. The Lagoon has a water sports school.

Sao Martinho beach (10 min drive) is situated in a safe horse shoe bay and is popular with families.

The beaches at Peniche and Baleal (30 min drive) are famous for surfing, scuba diving, kitesurfing and windsurfing. Nazare (20 min drive) has a stunning beach and steep cliffs overlooking the bright blue sea.

Golf

There are four world class golf courses within 30 minutes of the property.
Award-winning Praia del Rey is described as the most stunning golf course in Europe. The 18 hole par 72 championship links course is set in extensive grounds of pine forest with spectacular views over the Atlantic. It has deep bold bunkers and natural sand border areas contrasting sharply with the lush green fairway.

The Golden Eagle Golf Course near Rio Maior is an inland course which has 87 bunkers and 8 lakes. Bom Successo is a new championship course opened in September 2008 designed by Donald Steel and boasts challenging holes and fairways.

Campo Real Golf Course is a relatively new course also designed by Donald Steel and opened in May 2005. This course is situated in Torres Vedras. The course has some great views over the hills.

There are also numerous golf courses situated in and around Lisbon, most of them are reached within an hours drive of the property.

Travel

Travel times by car from Lisbon airport is 45 mins, Porto airport 2 hours and Faro airport 3.5 hours. The new A8 motorway links Lisbon in the south to Porto in the north. There are regular train and bus services from Lisbon to nearby Caldas Da Rainha. To enjoy your holiday to the full we recommend car hire. Airport transfers can be arranged by the owners if required.

Distances

The centre of the thriving town of Caldas Da Rainha is 3km from the property. The medieval town of Obidos (encircled by the walls of the 12th century castle), Foz Do Arelho/Obidos Lagoon is 8km from the property. The World Heritage Sites of Alcobaca (the site of the Abbey of Santa Maria), Fatima (world-famous pilgrimage site - the location of the first apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary) and Tomar (home of the Knights Templar) are 30km, 90km and 100 km respectively from the property.

Further details

Coto is a small typical Portuguese village which has several restaurants and cafes. There are also two mini-markets. There is an ATM banking facility in Coto. Coto lies on the outskirts of the main town in the area, Caldas Da Rainha, which boasts a large number of banks, hyper-markets, shops, cafes, bars and numerous restaurants. There is also the recently built Vivaci Shopping Centre which hosts a six screen cinema, food court area, various shops together with a supermarket and car parking facilities on the lower level.

There is a daily fruit market in the town square where farmers sell their locally grown produce and a daily fish market. There is a bowling alley and also an indoor swimming pool.

In the centre of town there is a beautiful park with a boating lake, children’s play ground, tennis courts and museums.
