At our Sumner B&B apartment retreat you can choose from:

The Studio - king-sized bed (or two king singles), ensuite bathroom, and microwave kitchen.

The Suite - bedroom with king-sized bed (or two king singles), large lounge with two single beds (one king and one shorter), separate kitchen and bathroom.

Our B&B apartment accommodation is centrally heated, has a stocked breakfast kitchen, has a TV and DVD, and each unit has its own private entrance.

The suite and the studio are on the ground floor of our 1877 historic villa, which is set in the serene surroundings of Christchurch's premiere seaside suburb of Sumner. Our bed and breakfast is one block from Sumner beach and is set in 1/4 of an acre of rambling garden.

A short walk along The Esplanade will bring you to Sumner Village and its cinema, specialty shops, and over a dozen cafés and restaurants.

A 25-minute drive or a regular bus service (no. 3) will take you to the centre of Christchurch.

Abbott House in Sumner is about more than just accommodation.

Your hosts Janet and Chris Abbott have travelled extensively - sometimes in luxury and sometimes in poverty.

As the largest city in the South Island, the garden city of Christchurch offers a huge range of shopping, entertainment and activity options. Just a 25 minute trip from your apartment accommodation, the centre of the city feels very English, and the Avon River winds its way through much of the city. You can even be taken for a ride on a punt!
