Retiro Park Lodge
Welcome to Retiro Park Lodge, Nelson’s finest Bed and Breakfast. At the top of New Zealand’s South Island, just fifteen minutes from Nelson, is the perfect all season’s escape and best choice for accommodation in Nelson, New Zealand.
Set in a park on a 70-acre property in Teal Valley, nestled amongst hills, its own boutique vineyard, olive and almond groves, lies this exclusive lodge. Retiro is Spanish for retreat, and is also the name of a beautiful park in Madrid, that was a royal hunting lodge belonging to the Habsburg dynasty, and located near where your hosts once used to live. Our Bed and Breakfast offers the advantages of a New Zealand boutique countryside lodge plus that of its proximity to Nelson City’s bustle and the region’s major attractions.
Retiro Park Lodge offers the traveller friendly personalized accommodation; So, one thing is for sure: when you stay at our Bed and Breakfast you’ll feel right at home and well looked after. You will also have the opportunity of meeting the extended family of Llamas and Alpacas that are reared at the property, as well as our friendly miniature Horses, Donkeys and our Weimaraner, Flavia.
As fellow travellers, at Retiro Park Lodge we look forward to giving you your most memorable stay in Nelson and in a New Zealand Bed and Breakfast.
After retiring from a twenty-five year career in the European fashion and hospitality industries, Dutch-born and New Zealand raised and educated Robbert de Jongh, decided that it was time to share with others his piece of Nelson’s paradise.
Your other host, Spanish winemaker Victor Flores, has good local wine knowledge after more than five years of New Zealand winemaking experience in Marlborough and Nelson. He is also a keen chef who will love sharing with you Retiro Park Lodge’s limited on-site crafted wine, over a homemade dinner.
